The CSI Apprenticeship Program is seeking a skilled Electrical Journeyman who wants to work part-time, contribute to their community, and help others enter a profession they love.

Apprenticeship instructors are a critical part of student success in the electrical industry. Instructors are hired on a year-to-year basis. They will use Mike Holt’s Curriculum as the foundation for teaching, with the option to enhance it using personal experience, PowerPoints, and visuals. Instructors are responsible for teaching the Idaho Electrical Code and preparing apprentices for the journeyman exam.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Stay current on the Idaho Electrical Code and advances in the field
  • Implement and deliver the approved curriculum to ensure instruction aligns with Idaho licensure requirements
  • Manage all aspects of class operations, including attendance, grade entry, student communication, and equipment.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Apprenticeship Program
  • Support students in meeting course objectives
  • Offer suggestions for program improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

LOCATION

  • Online-Zoom

WORK SCHEDULE / HOURS

  • Contract Dates: To start in October 2025
  • 1-hour Bi-Weekly Zoom Sessions

Hours

  • 12 minutes per student per week for teaching, admin, questions, troubleshooting, etc.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Flexible online format
  • The instructional time will be 1 hour or 2 hours twice a month depending on enrollment numbers
  • 24-week commitment required
  • Meet regularly with the Apprenticeship Manager
  • Attend advisory committee meetings (twice per year or as scheduled)
  • Complete instructor training and professional development as required
  • Comply with FERPA regulations
  • Adhere to CSI policies and procedures

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience as a Journeyman Electrician with some supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and internet use
  • Teaching or training experience preferred
