Job summary

Southern New Hampshire Health is seeking a Workforce Development Specialist to design, implement, and manage programs that support employee growth and talent pipelines at our Nashua, NH campus.

This grant-funded role partners with colleges, educational institutions, and community organizations to meet current and future staffing needs while driving workforce analytics and program improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in workforce development or related field.
  • Strong career coaching, consulting, facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze program outcomes and use data to guide decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with analytics tools a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized career coaching and guidance for professional growth.
  • Develop and manage workforce development programs and apprenticeships.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, HRBPs, and leaders to support internal mobility and retention.
  • Assess workforce development needs and identify capability gaps and talent pipeline requirements.
  • Coordinate apprenticeship programs and monitor participant progress.
  • Build partnerships with colleges, universities, and community organizations.
  • Support student pipeline programs and internships.
  • Analyze metrics and create dashboards, reports, and presentations.
  • Facilitate workshops and career development sessions for employees and partners.
  • Represent SNH at workforce development events and community initiatives.

About the Job:

The Workforce Development Specialist plays a critical role in strengthening our workforce by designing, implementing, and managing programs that support employee career growth, internal mobility, workforce readiness, and talent pipeline development. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, this role partners with employees, leaders, educational institutions, and community organizations to develop innovative workforce solutions that meet the health system’s current and future staffing needs.

**This is a grant-funded position.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide individualized career coaching and guidance to employees pursuing professional growth, educational advancement, certifications, and internal career opportunities.
  • Develop and manage workforce development programs, including apprenticeships, career pathways, workforce readiness initiatives, ESOL programs, and employee upskilling efforts.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, and operational leaders to support internal mobility and employee retention strategies.
  • Assess workforce development needs and identify capability gaps, development opportunities, and talent pipeline requirements for critical roles.
  • Coordinate apprenticeship programs, including participant coaching, progress monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and successful program completion.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, workforce agencies, community organizations, and educational vendors.
  • Support student pipeline programs, internships, career exploration initiatives, and other activities that strengthen future workforce pipelines.
  • Analyze workforce development metrics and create dashboards, reports, and presentations that inform decision-making and program improvements.
  • Facilitate workshops, orientations, career development sessions, and presentations for employees, leaders, students, and community partners.
  • Represent Southern New Hampshire Health at workforce development events, career fairs, educational partnerships, and community initiatives.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Workforce Development, Education, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in workforce development, talent development, learning and development, human resources, career services, education, healthcare operations, or a related field.
  • Strong career coaching, consulting, facilitation, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workforce initiatives independently and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience analyzing program outcomes and using data to develop actionable recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Workday, workforce analytics tools, and dashboard reporting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of workforce development principles, talent pipeline strategies, career mobility practices, and workforce planning concepts.
  • Experience with apprenticeship programs, educational partnerships, workforce analytics, or healthcare workforce initiatives is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PHR, Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), or ATD certifications are a plus.
