Job summary

The California Department of Industrial Relations seeks a Workers’ Compensation Manager reporting to the Chief of Medical Services Administration. The incumbent will oversee all functions of the Qualified Medical Evaluator program in the Medical unit and establish policies to ensure compliance with current statutes and regulations and the effective delivery of benefits to injured workers.

Located in Oakland, this Civil Service role may involve telework options and will manage eligibility

• Must be reachable on an employment list, transfer eligibility or reinstatement eligibility.
• Experience overseeing workers' compensation programs is preferred.

Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief of Medical Services Administration, the Workers’ Compensation Manager oversees all functions of the Qualified Medical Evaluator program in the Medical unit. The incumbent will establish and monitor policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current statues and regulations and effective delivery of benefits to injured workers.

The Supervisor II classification is being appropriated for this position. If you have list eligibility as a Supervisor II it will be used to hire you as a Workers' Compensation Manager . Candidates with Supervisor II eligibility must meet the minimum qualifications for both Supervisor II and Workers' Compensation Manager.

Working Conditions

This position is located at: 1515 Clay Street, Oakland, CA 94612.

The incumbent works in an air conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting as well temperature control. The office is equpped with standard office equipment, such as computers, scanners, copiers, and shredders.

Telework, when appropriate, may be approved at the discretion of the Chief of Medical Services Administration.
