As a member of Staff Counsel you will conduct depositions, discovery, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, advise insureds and claim professionals, negotiate settlements, and travel for court appearances

Qualifications

  • Attorney must be licensed in Georgia.
  • 4+ years of workers’ compensation defense experience desired.
  • A strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, as well as applicable federal, state, and administrative agency rules.
  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze issues, proactively develop effective strategies on pending cases, communicate regularly with claims professionals, document communications, and resolve cases as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Solid experience in preparing responsive pleadings, handling appearances, motion practice, depositions, court hearings, settlement conferences and trials, as well as conducting valuation of claims and making recommendations for resolution.
  • Willing to work independently with minimal direction, handle matters efficiently, and travel as necessary for court hearings, depositions, site inspections, client meetings, and other in-person events.

Our staff counsel is currently seeking a Workers Compensation Defense Attorney in Georgia. This is a remote/work-from-home position. This is a full time/exempt role.


Position Overview:

As a member of our Staff Counsel group, this attorney will be primarily responsible for handling the defense of litigated claims made against companies in connection with workers compensation matters. This attorney will also be responsible for investigation and management of assigned cases from the inception of the lawsuit until conclusion through dismissal, settlement, or trial, and working with adjusters and insureds to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. The Hanover offers flexible work arrangements, and this position may be performed in-office, remotely, or hybrid. Travel and in-person appearances to Court/Boards and depositions are required, as necessary.
