Confidential Employer, based in Columbia, SC, seeks an attorney with 1+ year workers' compensation defense experience to join its established litigation practice. This on-site role offers mentorship, meaningful casework, and opportunities for advancement.

You will handle defense work for employers, insurers, and self-insured entities, guiding cases through all stages and collaborating with a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Active South Carolina Bar license and in good standing.
  • 1+ years of South Carolina workers' compensation defense experience.
  • Strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage discovery, motions, and case management independently.

Responsibilities

  • Defend workers' compensation claims for employers, insurers, and self-insured entities.
  • Manage cases through all phases of litigation from evaluation to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other documents.
  • Handle discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, trials, appeals, and settlements.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and provide strategic legal guidance.
  • Identify related legal issues and opportunities affecting clients.
  • Effectively manage caseloads while maintaining high-quality work and client service.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff in a team-oriented environment.

Location:

This position is based on-site in our Columbia, South Carolina office. We are open to candidates relocating to the area and may provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Note:

Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar and have direct South Carolina workers' compensation defense experience. A book of business is not required. Ideal candidates will have 1+ years of relevant experience.
