Job summary

Lockridge Partners, a well-established Philadelphia-area regional defense firm, is seeking an associate to join its workers' compensation team. The attorney will manage a personal caseload from intake through resolution and appeal, appearing before PA WC Judges in the region, and drafting petitions and memoranda with support from partners.

Ideal candidates have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, an active PA Bar license, and 2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school required.
• Active PA Bar license in good standing required.
• 2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience.
• PA & NJ dual licensure preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle workers' compensation defense matters independently from intake through resolution and appeal.
• Appear before Workers' Compensation Judges across the Philadelphia region and surrounding counties.
• Draft petitions, answers, and legal memoranda; conduct medical discovery.
• Advise employer and insurance carrier clients on claim strategy, exposure, and settlement.
• Travel to area counties for hearings with mileage/travel expenses reimbursed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A well-established Philadelphia-area regional defense firm with a strong workers' compensation practice is seeking an associate to join its team. The firm represents a diverse roster of employers and insurers across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, handling matters from initial claim through hearing and appeal. Associates manage their own caseloads with support from experienced partners and receive billable credit for training time - including courtroom observation at the outset.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Handle workers' compensation defense matters independently from intake through resolution and appeal


• Appear before Workers' Compensation Judges across the Philadelphia region and surrounding counties


• Draft petitions, answers, and legal memoranda; conduct medical discovery


• Advise employer and insurance carrier clients on claim strategy, exposure, and settlement


• Travel to area counties for hearings as required (mileage and travel expenses reimbursed)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; active PA Bar license in good standing


• 2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience; PA & NJ dual licensure preferred


• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Hearing experience before the PA Workers' Compensation Bureau is a strong plus
