As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a strategic and experiencedManaging Attorneyto lead our Workers’ Compensation team in Los Angeles.

Position Summary:

The Managing Attorney of Workers Compensation department will be responsible for all aspects of the workers compensation practice, including evaluating the merits of a workers compensation case, providing guidance and counsel to the clients through effective communication, medical review, and negotiating, settling and litigating cases if necessary. You will assist with running the firm’s Workers Compensation Department operations. Our Managing Attorney will monitor case status, timelines, and implement staff professional development programs. This leadership role will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and play a key role in shaping the department’s success and alignment with firm-wide goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Opening new files, creating litigation plans, conducting discovery, and trying cases while maintaining exceptional client interaction
  • Representing the interests of the claimant at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings
  • Engaging in negotiations with opposing council in order to achieve maximum settlement
  • Taking depositions of witnesses, requesting medical records, writing petitions, motions, and responses to insurance companies
  • Drafting, filing and arguing appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients
  • Remaining current with developments in the workers compensation area of law
  • Communicating with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion
  • Lead and manage staff in the Workers’ Compensation department
  • Oversee legal strategy, departmental workflow, and performance metrics
  • Maintain a limited caseload to stay connected with active litigation
  • Ensure adherence to firm policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Work with the COO to execute departmental goals, resource planning, and reporting

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
  • 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Proven ability to manage legal teams and high-volume caseloads effectively
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and team collaboration
  • Excellent decision-making, public speaking, and supervisory experience are highly preferred

Salary Range: $80,000-$160,000.00
