Hennessy & Roach, P.C. seeks an attorney to defend workers' compensation and general liability cases in Illinois, joining our Springfield, IL office. Salary to be commensurate with experience. Essential functions include discovery, drafting legal documents, and representing clients at hearings and trials.

Qualifications include J.D. and Illinois bar admission; Midwest bar is a plus; prior defense experience and strong legal research skills are desired. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• J.D. and admission to the Illinois bar; passing the bar in another Midwest state is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conducting discovery.
• Drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Litigating workers' compensation or general liability cases before an administrative law judge.
• Represent the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
• Monitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alerts management to concerns.
• Assist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas.
• Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability.
• Compile and submit reports required by company management.
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company/employer.
• Other related duties as assigned.
