Workday - Principal Consultant, Time Tracking & Absence
Principal Consultant specializing in Workday Time Tracking and Absence to support our Lifeline clients across the AMS (Application Management Services) portfolio. In this client-facing role, you’ll provide expert support and configuration guidance for clients post-implementation. You’ll also scope and/or lead small PX (project-oriented) enhancements and optimizations that deliver real value.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert-level support for Workday Time Tracking and Absence configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve functional and configuration issues in live client environments
- Scope, design, and implement enhancements or new functionality
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying optimization opportunities
- Manage multiple priorities and client needs independently
- Contribute to PX efforts and partner with internal teams as needed
- Independently creates client deliverables for large, complex projects and/or clients; evaluates effort and requests support as needed
- Leads work streams and/or small teams or projects as appropriate; reviews deliverables and contributes key content
- Manages own time, availability, progress against project plan, and billable hour expectations; communicates risks and/or availability to project leader(s) and people manager
- Formally or informally manages client-side relationships (e.g. internal partners, vendors, employees and/or customers)
- Leverages current Avaap methodology, best practices, and tools to deliver client solutions; identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends enhancements
- Contributes to internal initiatives that help make Avaap a market-leading consulting partner and best place to work
- Adheres to expectations for one's role communicated by the business and outlined within methodology and RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) Chart documentation
- Completes other related responsibilities as assigned based on client or business needs
Desired Experience And Skills
- Workday implementer Time Tracking and/or Absence certification required
- Proven experience in both domains, with deep expertise in Time Tracking
- Strong understanding of Workday AMS support models
- Ability to evaluate risks, prioritize needs, and manage client expectations
- Self-directed with excellent time management and communication skills
- Preference for Workday HCM consulting, and/or industry experience, Previous consulting experience with SaaS systems is highly preferred
- Possess a strong understanding of U S Payroll, including settlement, taxes, and all regulations applicable regulations at the federal, state and local level(s) in which the customer conducts business
- Confirm that the solution design presented to the client meets the requirements of the project across multiple functional areas
- Demonstrated ability to document delivered solutions, and provide knowledge transfer to customers on acceptable solutions
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex solutions of varying degrees to non-technical users
- Demonstrated ability to build long term, productive customer relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Workday Scheduling and Labor certification, preferred
- Experience working with Higher Education and/or Government clients, preferred
Pay Transparency
Compensation for roles at Avaap varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific business unit, team, role, skillset, and level of experience. As required by law, Avaap provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired.
- Base Salary Range is $135,000 to $175,000 plus 20% variable compensation is available for this specific role. At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range.
- During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively
- Must be able to perform work indoors and remain stationary at a computer
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration
- Ability to work remotely or out of one of Avaap’s physical office locations
- Current permanent U.S. work authorization required
