Qualifications

  • Incumbent will be required to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Tutors work one‑on‑one with students and occasionally organize group activities, providing compassionate, motivating assistance and guiding students toward study practices and aids that help them excel.

Responsibilities
  • Meet students at their high school or on campus to review homework assignments in the applicable subject area.
  • Review recent homework assignments and test scores, then work through problems or questions the student did not answer correctly.
  • Give short presentations on monthly themes, lead related activities, and facilitate discussions with students.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences
  • Preference given to students in STEM majors.
  • Must be a responsible individual with good interpersonal skills who enjoys working with students from diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Be willing to commit 15 hours per week (including some Saturday mornings).
  • Have reliable transportation and be willing to transport students in University vehicles if necessary; must take and pass a state driving exam.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to develop positive rapport with students.

This position may require the successful completion of a criminal background check and/or drug screen.
