Job summary

Bridgewater State University’s BSU Think Tank is an on-campus makerspace and innovation hub. The Think Tank Lab Coordinator will help oversee the BSU Think Tank and Think Tank Lab Techs, and after training they will mentor students, staff the Maker Space site, and co-lead workshops.

The role starts late Fall 2025 and runs through Spring 2026, requiring at least 10 hours per week during the academic year. Eligibility includes undergraduate status, six credits, and Work Study award.

Qualifications

• Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
• Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package
• Must have previously worked as a Think Tank lab tech for a minimum of one semester.

Work Study Think Tank Lab Coordinator

Position Description

The BSU Think Tank at Bridgewater State University is an on-campus makerspace and innovation hub. It provides students, faculty, and the local community with access to advanced technologies, tools, collaborative workspace, and educational programming.

As a Think Tank Lab Coordinator you will be expected to assist in overseeing the BSU Think Tank as well as Think Tank Lab Techs.

Think Tank Lab Techs will complete an intensive learning period on how to use and operate Maker Space technologies including 3D printers, microcontrollers, robots, small electronics, and prototyping machines.

After extensive training their duties will include:

• mentoring and tutoring other students
• staffing and organizing a Maker Space site
• co-leading workshops and tutorials

The position will start during the end of the fall 2025 semester upon hire and last through the spring 2026 semester. You will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic year.

Eligibility requirements

• Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
• Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package
• Must have previously worked as a Think Tank lab tech for a minimum of one semester.

Preferred Qualifications

• Personable, friendly, able to work with and tutor others
• Passion for tinkering and building things
• Able to work and learn independently
• Experience using CNCs, Milling Machines, Lathes, 3d printers, Laser cutters
• Familiarity with CAD , CAM , Fusion, 3d printing software
• Familiarity with computer programming
• Knowledge of electronics or Makerspace technology is not required, but a definite plus

Physical Demands

Able to occasionally move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
