Job summary

Des Moines Area Community College is seeking a Work Study Student Accounts Assistant in Ankeny. The role supports the Student Accounts team by processing payments and assisting with inquiries while providing services aligned to the college’s accounting processes.

The position is part-time (20 hours/week) with a daytime schedule and opportunities to learn about bookkeeping and regulatory practices within higher education.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
• Must keep information confidential.
• Must be an effective communicator with the ability to work with others.
• Must be dependable and able to work an established schedule.

Responsibilities

• Process and apply payments to student accounts.
• Review returned checks and direct funds/refunds as necessary.
• Review mail and other received items and distribute to the appropriate Student Accounts personnel.
• Work with Student Accounts specialists to generate and review department reports.
• Work at the front desk and assist with student questions and requests.
• Direct students to the correct specialist as needed.
• Gain exposure to bookkeeping, accounting, regulation, and related areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
