Job summary

LA Promise Fund seeks a Work Readiness Coordinator to partner with Career Pathway Connections and LAUSD to run workshops, field trips, and credentialing, while coaching students in internships across after-school, fall, spring, and summer cohorts. Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person workshops at Westbrook Academy and other local school partners to help students earn work readiness badges.
  • Coordinate field trips, career fairs, and panels for Westbrook Academy.
  • Coordinate transportation services for field trips with designated Westbrook Academy Staff member.
  • Data stewardship and coordination across Westbrook Academy to monitor progress of students meeting milestones to receive the Work Readiness Certifications.
  • Supports Westbrook Academy 12th-grade college and career-focused work around college applications and enrollment.
  • Assists with coordinating with ELAC, LATTC, and community partners to align high school training with community college pathways in AME and Allied.
  • Serves as coordinator for Westbrook Academy Film Festival and Career Fair.
  • Create social media content, engage with students and partners, and track responses for all CPC programs to continue student and partner engagement.
  • Conduct research and planning for field trips.
  • Provide technical assistance for recruitment, communication, and planning for student-facing sessions for The Intern Project's after-school, summer, and school-year programming.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Work Readiness Coordinator will work with the Career Pathway Connections team to facilitate workforce workshops and field trips, and work with LAUSD to obtain Certificates and badges. This position will assist with The Intern Project and be an ongoing coach for students in internship placements during after‑school, fall, spring, and summer cohorts. Additionally, this position will oversee the social media/communications for The Intern Project in partnership with the Career Pathway Connection Associate Director. This is a full‑time, exempt position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Lead in‑person workshops at Westbrook Academy and other local school partners in South and Southeast Los Angeles to help students earn work readiness badges. Workshops include but are not limited to: resume development, cover letters, my support network, mock interviews, career discussions, and financial literacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES for Westbrook Students:
  • Coordination and facilitation of school‑wide career readiness awareness workshops for Westbrook Academy
  • Coordinates field trips, career fairs, and panels for Westbrook Academy
  • Coordinates transportation services for field trips with designated Westbrook Academy Staff member
  • Data stewardship and coordination across Westbrook Academy to monitor progress of students meeting milestones to receive the Work Readiness Certifications
  • Supports Westbrook Academy 12th‑grade college and career‑focused work around college applications and enrollment
  • Assists with coordinating with ELAC, LATTC, and community partners to align high school training with community college pathways in AME and Allied
  • Serves as coordinator for Westbrook Academy Film Festival and Career Fair
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate professional development workshops (e.g., resume building, leadership, financial literacy, social media skills, etc.) for high school students in person and/or remotely
  • Assist with Career Skills workshops & events by creating slide decks, calendaring, attending workshops, and administering student surveys
  • Track and organize all applications and paperwork with students, applicants, LATTC, and business partners - including submissions, contracts, K‑12 forms, work permits, and more
  • Track program data, timelines, tasks, and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate student and alumni outreach for opportunities through Career Pathway Connections, StudentsBuild, The Intern Project, and beyond
  • Assist with work‑based learning activities for students in high school
  • Create social media content, engage with students and partners, and track responses for all CPC programs to continue student and partner engagement
  • Conduct research and planning for field trips
  • Provide technical assistance for recruitment, communication, and planning for student‑facing sessions for The Intern Project's after‑school, summer, and school‑year programming
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
  • Degreed or pursuing a Degree in marketing/communications, business, education, STEM, or other related field
  • 1-2 years of experience working with teams on projects, internal/etxernal teams, preferably within K‑12 Los Angeles schools, nonprofit, and/or higher education
  • Planning skills, organization, and program support
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Group facilitation and an understanding of K‑12 education, adult learning, and/or STEAM
Technical Skills
  • Fluent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and online communications (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom)
  • Public speaking and workshop facilitation skills
  • Familiarity with website maintenance and social media platforms
Soft Skills:
  • Interpersonal communication — Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Organization & time management — Resourceful, detail‑oriented, able to multitask, prioritize, and time management
  • Project management — Skilled at managing multiple complex projects simultaneously

  • Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check
  • Must clear a TB Risk Assessment
  • Must complete Mandated Reporter training
  • Must have reliable transportation (not all sites have easy public transportation access) as travel is 80% of employment
