Job summary

AMS is seeking a Work Planner to join our vegetation management team outdoors. You will conduct safety audits, inspect ROW, mark vegetation, and collect data while traveling to field sites in the service area.

The role emphasizes safety, independent work, and delivering value to customers. This full-time position offers a company vehicle, industry-competitive pay of USD 23.00–26.00 per hour, benefits from day one, paid holidays, and ongoing training with opportunities for certifications and

Qualifications

  • Minimum 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits toward a degree, or 2–3 years of experiential management (UVM) experience without degree.
  • Knowledge of species and hazard tree identification, invasive species, and tree growth.
  • Computer and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety audits.
  • Inspects rights-of-way (ROW) and easements for trim, removal, and chemical treatment requirements.
  • Marks vegetation as required.
  • Collects and reports data required by Line Clearing contractors.
  • Notifies and communicates with customers as required.
  • Travel requirements may vary; occasional day and overnight travel unlikely depending on location.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations.

  • Minimum thirty (30) semester credits or forty-five (45) quarter credits towards a degree from an accredited college /university OR 2-3 years of UVM experience without degree.
  • Species and hazard tree identification skills, invasive species, and tree growth knowledge.
  • Computer and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards.
WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
  • ISA or equivalent certification preferred, but not required.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions. Reasonable accommodations, if available, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Physical

The team member must have the sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make a repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties (e.g., forcefully beat down brush); carry, push and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight, frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. (sandbags); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
