Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a contract-based candidate to coordinate and manage electrical transmission and substation outages for major capital projects. You will work with project managers, system operators, outage planners and engineers to create, submit, track and manage outage requests through the switching process.

Ideal candidates understand how power flows through an electrical grid and can plan, coordinate, and operate outages safely during construction or maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; alternative experience with utility operations may be considered.
• Experience as Switching Coordinator, Control Room Operator, Outage Planner, or outage ticket writer beneficial.
• Knowledge of outage planning, switching processes and grid operations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, system operators, outage planners and engineering teams to create, submit, track and manage outage requests.
• Understand power flow and safely remove equipment from service during construction or maintenance.

Description

This role supports a large utilities Transmission Project Management organization by coordinating and managing electrical transmission and substation outages required to execute capital construction projects. The position will work closely with project managers, system operators, outage planners, and engineering groups to create, submit, track, and manage outage requests through ComEd's switching request process. The ideal candidate understands how power flows through an electrical transmission or distribution network and has prior experience planning, coordinating, scheduling, or operating outages necessary to safely remove equipment from service while construction or maintenance activities are performed. Management is looking for someone who can potentially stay for the full duration of the long term engagement.

Preference is someone that has worked in and has an overall understanding of the following:

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $62.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
