Special Education Teacher/Work Experience Coordinator

Armstrong High School

Salary and benefits based on 2024-25 Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement

Reports to the Assistant Director of Special Education/Secondary Programs

Responsibilities
  1. Team with special education and vocational education staff to provide transition-level services to students with disabilities, ages 15 to 21.
  2. Provide instruction related to Job Training and Employment in school-based and community-based settings.
  3. Coordinate vocational activities for students aged 18 to 21, including locating and developing work sites, service learning, job shadowing, and internships.
  4. Manage casework for students enrolled in Robbinsdale Transition Center.
  5. Participate in student evaluations focusing on vocational goals and plans.
  6. Know community-based vocational training programs (e.g., Hennepin Technical College) and assist students in accessing them.
  7. Be familiar with community agencies supporting vocational activities for adults with disabilities.
  8. Work collaboratively with education and community agencies to develop and implement transition plans.
Qualifications
  1. Work Experience Handicapped (WEH) license required.
  2. License in one or more areas of Special Education required.
  3. Experience in secondary transition services preferred.
  4. Ability to attend work regularly and report on time.
