Goodwill Omaha is seeking a Work Experience Classroom Instructor in Fremont, NE to partner with clients, families and school districts. You will implement prepared curriculum, measure outcomes, and help participants develop life, interpersonal, and employment skills for workplace success.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and train students participating in the Work Experience program.
  • Collaborate with Special Education Consultant, Program Manager and Director to develop an Individual Program Plan for each participant based on the participant’s IEP.
  • Identify and create accommodations that allow participants to complete assigned tasks.
  • Teach students retail skills.
  • Complete required personnel and administrative paperwork promptly.
  • Maintain contact with work site supervisors to monitor participant progress in work areas and identify strengths and areas of development.
  • Oversee summer work experience programs when funding permits and referrals are received for summer employment activities.
  • Work with the missions programming/workforce development department to identify students graduating and need job placement services.
  • Supervise work activities, track timesheets, and report progress for Pre-ETS students referred during summer sessions.
  • Make sound decisions in day-to-day activities of participants.
  • Ensure participants are prepared to become employed and retain employment.
  • Ensure participant records are organized per Goodwill policies and CARF requirements.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations defined in program measures.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment for students, staff, and customers.
  • Assist in trainings for program participants and/or employees when needed.
  • Meet attendance expectations for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for partnering with clients, families and school districts to create individualized plans that promote client success in the workplace. Trainers support clients through the utilization of prepared curriculum and measureable outcomes in the areas of life skills, interpersonal skills, and employment skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectively manage and train students participating in the Work Experience program.
  • Collaborate with Special Education Consultant, Program Manager and Director to develop an Individual Program Plan for each program participant based upon the participant’s Individualized Education Plan.
  • Identify and create accommodations that allow participants to complete assigned tasks.
  • Teach students retail skills.
  • Complete required personnel and administrative paperwork promptly.
  • Maintain contact with work site supervisors to monitor participant progress in work areas and identify strengths and areas of development.
  • Oversee summer work experience programs when funding permits and referrals are received for summer employment activities.
  • Work with the missions programming/workforce development department, including the participants external stakeholders to identify students who will be graduating and need job placement services.
  • Supervise work activities, track timesheets, and report progress for Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS) students who may be referred during the summer session for job exploration or work-based learning experiences. Track and report information to administrative entities and family members.
  • Make sound decisions in dealing with the day-to-day activities of participants.
  • Ensure participants are prepared to become employed and retain employment.
  • Ensure that participant records are organized and legible per Goodwill policies and procedures and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) requirements.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations defined in the Program Evaluation efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction measures.
  • Actively maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of students, staff, and customers.
  • Assist in/conduct trainings for program participants and/or employees when needed
  • Meet or exceed the attendance expectations for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
