Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions in Gulfport, MS is hiring for a Center Liaison who coordinates work-based learning programs and placements. You’ll develop employer linkages, manage ACT college activities, and support student readiness for work-based experiences within the Job Corps setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in related field is required.
  • Two years of relevant experience required; equivalent combinations may substitute for degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain work-based learning (WBL) program linkages with local employers.
  • Coordinate center’s ACT (college) program with local college and ensure slot utilization is full.
  • Monitor ACT training programs, agreements, and student placements.
  • Coordinate attendance, transportation, meals, and billing approvals.
  • Maintain links with federal, state, local agencies, employers, and placement agencies for student placement.
  • Assist recruiters with outreach services as needed.
  • Participate in career preparation curricula and career transition activities.
  • Counsel students regarding career goals, options, requirements, and services.
  • Assist students with resume preparation and job search activities.
  • Coordinate placement of students into WBL and monitor progress.
  • Participate in performance evaluation panels and prepare required documentation.
  • Support career development services and maintain center standards and safety.
  • Transport students for WBL purposes as needed.
  • Model and evaluate employability skills and coordinate schedule changes.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and promote a respectful center climate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Location

This position is located in the Job Corps facility in Gulfport, MS.

Job Overview

Serves as liaison between employers and the Center. Develop linkages in community for the work-based learning (WBL) program. Coordinates placement of WBL students. Assists in placement of students prior to departure from the program.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties
  • Establish and maintain work-based learning (WBL) program linkages with local employers.
  • Coordinate center’s ACT (college) program with local college. Ensure that slot utilization is full at all times.
  • Responsible for the ACT program and any OCT training programs developed. This includes monitoring agreements, students in off center and ACT training programs.
  • Coordinating attendance, transportation, meals and meal deliveries and approving billing.
  • Maintain linkages with federal, state, local agencies, employers, and contracted placement agencies to aid students’ placement into jobs, continuing education, or the armed forces.
  • Assist recruiters with outreach services as needed.
  • Participate in career preparation period curricula and career transition activities as required.
  • Counsel students regarding career goals, options, requirements, services, etc.
  • Assist students with preparation of resume, preparation for work-based learning experiences, and job search activities.
  • Coordinate placement of students into WBL. Monitor student progress, counsel students regarding performance, evaluation, problem resolution, decision making, accountability, and transition issues.
  • Participate in student performance evaluation panels for students participating in work-based learning or off-center training. Prepare required documentation as needed.
  • Support career development services system, center behavior standards, and zero tolerance policy.
  • Transport students for WBL purposes as needed.
  • Teach, model, and evaluate student employability skills.
  • Coordinate schedule changes to accommodate.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment at all times.
  • Promote the development of career success standards through modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, monitoring student skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Cultivate and maintain a Center climate which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students in which to work and learn.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal. protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Mandatory
  • Associate’s degree in related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties and functions of the job may be substituted for Associate’s Degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
  • Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center. Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment. Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property. Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
