Job summary

Career Systems Development Corporation seeks a WBL Coordinator to plan and direct the center's School-to-Career/Work Based Learning program, supporting youth aged 16-24. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with adjusting to Center life to boost retention.
  • Coordinate supervision, counseling and mentoring for trainees.
  • Meet with students monthly and document progress.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas; manage property records and requests.
  • Collaborate with employers and staff to create work-based learning sites.
  • Plan activities and coordinate with educators, trainees, and employers.

The WBL Coordinator will be responsible for planning and directing the center School to Career/Work Based Learning program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
  • Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
  • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, Career System Development, and Department of Labor standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, submitting property relocation requests, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
  • Works with staff, employers, organized labor and the community to establish positive work-based learning sites for students to learn and practice skills they cannot easily learn in a classroom setting.
  • Plans and coordinates activities to bring together the appropriate persons, including employers, educators, trainees, and staff to ensure the success of the school-to-Career/Work–based Learning program.
  • Schedules and transports trainees to work sites as needed.
  • Visits work sites to monitor trainee progress.
  • Serves as substitute teacher to allow the vocational instructors to visit work sites periodically.

Requirements

Minimum: Associate degree and two years’ experience in marketing, sales, or counseling related areas.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years professional experience working with youth. Two years’ experience in marketing, sales, or counseling related areas. Supervisory experience.

Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to trainees. Good understanding of the local community and employer base. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and marketing skills. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
