As a Software Engineer, you will help design, build, test, and maintain software that supports the needs of our users and business. You will work with colleagues across engineering, product, design, and other functions to turn requirements into dependable solutions. This role is suited to an engineer who enjoys balancing thoughtful technical design with timely delivery, communicates effectively, and takes responsibility for the quality of their work. You will participate throughout the development lifecycle, from clarifying a problem and discussing possible approaches to releasing, monitoring, and improving a solution. You will be expected to write maintainable code, document important decisions, and consider performance, security, accessibility, and usability. You will also help identify opportunities to simplify systems and improve development practices. The specific tools and projects may vary as company needs change, and you should be comfortable learning new technologies when appropriate.
Required qualifications include experience developing software in a professional, academic, or substantial personal project setting; proficiency in at least one modern programming language; and a working understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, testing, and version control. You should be able to investigate problems systematically, explain technical decisions clearly, and collaborate constructively with people from different disciplines. We also value experience building or maintaining APIs, web applications, services, or other production software; familiarity with code review and automated testing; and an understanding of secure and accessible development practices. A degree in computer science or a related field may be helpful, but equivalent practical experience is welcome. Curiosity, reliability, attention to detail, and openness to feedback are important. We encourage candidates to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.
Design, implement, test, and maintain software features that address defined user and business needs. Collaborate with product and design partners to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and make informed trade-offs. Participate in planning, estimation, code reviews, and technical discussions, contributing ideas while remaining receptive to feedback. Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code; document systems and decisions where useful; and follow established engineering standards. Diagnose defects and performance issues, determine their underlying causes, and deliver appropriate fixes. Help monitor software after release and use feedback or operational information to guide improvements. Identify technical debt and propose practical ways to improve reliability, security, accessibility, and development efficiency. Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies promptly, and support a respectful, learning-focused team culture.
