Overview:
Boston Web Group is seeking a creative, detail-oriented WordPress Designer to join our digital team. This role involves designing website layouts in Figma, converting those designs into popular theme builders such as Divi and Elementor, and deploying fully functional, optimized, and responsive websites. This is a hybrid role that requires both a strong eye for design and hands-on WordPress development skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design modern, responsive, and brand-aligned website layouts using Figma
- Translate Figma designs into functional WordPress websites using Divi, Elementor, popular theme builders, or custom themes.
- Build custom page templates and reusable components for flexibility and scalability
- Ensure all designs follow best practices in UX/UI, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness
- Maintain brand consistency across all pages and screen sizes
- Collaborate with the internal SEO and content teams to optimize page structure, metadata, and schema
- Conduct thorough cross-browser testing and mobile responsiveness checks
- Set up and configure contact forms, CTAs, and conversion-focused elements
- Configure and test necessary plugins for performance, security, and SEO
- Prepare the website for launch, including:
- Domain configuration and DNS changes
- SSL installation and verification
- Caching and speed optimizations
- Final QA and client approvals
- Provide support post-launch for minor changes, troubleshooting, and adjustments
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in design programs, such as Figma, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc., for web design mockups and prototypes
- Deep knowledge of WordPress, and understanding of Divi, Elementor, and basic PHP/HTML/CSS/JS
- Experience with responsive design principles and mobile-first development
- Familiarity with SEO best practices, Core Web Vitals, and accessibility guidelines
- Experience using staging environments and version control (e.g., Git)
- Understanding of plugins like Gravity Forms, Rank Math, WP Rocket, and ACF
- Ability to work within deadlines and communicate proactively with clients and team members
Nice to Have:
- Experience with WooCommerce and eCommerce design
- Basic understanding of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
- Familiarity with custom post types and advanced page templates
- Experience working with page speed optimization tools
