Exciting opportunity to work for an international law firm seeking a Legal Word Processing Operator in their Washington, DC office.

Qualifications include 3-4 years of actual legal word processing experience.

The working hours are from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Type, transcribe, revise, and proofread work coming into the Word Processing Center.
  2. Proofread all work to ensure typo-free projects leave the Center.
  3. Ensure timeliness, quality, and quantity of work produced.
  4. Inform attorneys if unable to meet deadlines and provide estimated completion times.
  5. Fill in appropriate information on Center logs, enter daily billing and work hours.
  6. Log incoming work into the Center when necessary.
  7. Help maintain supplies in the Center.
  8. Learn and inform others about new software, machines, and tools provided by the firm.
  9. Assist with troubleshooting network applications.
  10. Answer incoming calls, provide project status updates, and basic software support.
  11. Perform tasks such as faxing, message taking, paging, copying, and document delivery, especially when support staff are unavailable.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
  13. Work effectively in a shared 'Center' environment, maintaining good relations with colleagues.
  14. Follow firm and department policies and procedures.

Core software requirements include:

  • Microsoft Office Suite 365: Word (Advanced), Excel (Intermediate), PowerPoint (General)
  • Nuance OmniPage
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • TextMap transcript management software
