Job summary

VSR Industries, a Henderson, NV company with over 50 years in casino gaming hardware, is seeking a full-time carpenter/woodworker. You will design, build, remodel and repair wood structures according to blueprints and specs, determining materials and equipment for work orders.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of remodeling or wood construction experience. Expect a daytime, Monday–Friday schedule with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years' remodeling or wood structure experience.
  • Must have basic math skills and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Experience using basic hand tools preferred.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Able to understand basic directions in English.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, specs, and drawings to design, build, remodel, and repair structures.
  • Determine materials and equipment needed for work orders.
  • Prepare layouts and mark cutting lines on materials.
  • Cut materials to measurements using chop saws, table saws, and trim routers.
  • Assemble cut materials with brackets, screws, nails, or glue.
  • Install and maintain hardware such as locks and kick plates.
  • Inspect finished work for conformance with specs.

Job Duties
  • Work from blueprints, specifications, drawing and instructions to design, build, remodel, retrofit, and maintain and/or repair structure.
  • Determine materials and equipment required for work orders based on blueprints and sketches.
  • Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
  • Cuts materials to measurements using chop saws, table saws, and trim routers.
  • Assembles cut materials and fasten together with brackets, screws, and/or nails.
  • Marks, cuts, and shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assemble by fastening with nails, staples, dowels, or glue.
  • Fits, installs, and maintains finished hardware such as locks and kick plates.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance with specifications.
  • Participate in the maintenance and operation of the wood shop.
  • Maintains and repairs hand or power tools and equipment of the carpentry trade by cleaning, oiling, setting, or other processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of experience in remodeling of wood structures; furniture repair or construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have basic math skills, and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Experience using basic hand tools (preferred.)
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Familiar with the following methods: dowel construction, butt joint construction, and dao construction.
  • Must have good eye-hand coordination.
  • Be able to understand basic directions in English (required)
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check are required

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, walk and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Vision abilities requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth
  • Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Moderately loud noise levels in plant environment.
