Job summary

National Salvage & Service Corporation in McBain, Michigan is seeking a Wood Yard Manager to lead our wood processing facility. You will drive daily production, safety, quality, and cost control while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to meet performance targets.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of manufacturing or railroad-operations management experience, with strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in manufacturing, processing, railroad, or related industrial environments.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and operational reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and process improvement methodologies.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and operational equipment knowledge preferred.

Position Summary

The Wood Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the wood processing facility, including production management, employee leadership, quality assurance, financial oversight, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, operational expertise, and a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, develop, and manage production teams while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
