Job summary

AGCOR is seeking a Designer and Estimator based in Cullman, AL to lead design, estimating, and execution for multiple projects. The role involves wood truss design, preparing cost estimates, and developing schedules from rough to detailed cost projections.

The ideal candidate has relevant training or certification with design/estimating and at least 1 year of related experience, plus strong Excel and estimating software skills.

Job Description

Our ideal candidate can oversee multiple projects from all aspects: design, estimating, and execution. We're looking for a hard-working and passionate team member to own this role! This position is responsible for developing wood truss design, cost estimates, development, and construction schedules ranging from rough-order-of-magnitude level to detailed working cost estimates/designs, guiding owner selections and presenting the results in a format suitable for use by the client and design team. We are looking for someone who has excellent people and communication skills and can think outside of the box for creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality designs, develop construction capital cost estimates, general cost estimates, deep review of job specifications, understand construction schedules, design projects, and meet bid date requirements.

• Assist in other areas required to deliver a quality product on schedule and on budget.
• Manage documentation and cost/ profit analysis.

• Scope of Work is completed to the AGCOR standard of quality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Relevant training and/or certification with a design/project cost estimating department or organization and with at least 1 year of experience working in a similar capacity is preferred.
• Experience with preparing construction design and cost estimates is preferred.
• Experience with wood truss design and estimating is a plus.
• The position must have competence with analysis, numeration, research, the use of spreadsheet and scheduling software (the minimum requirement is proficiency in Excel and experience with database cost estimating software (Smart Build, Eagle, or similar software experience is highly desirable).
• Proven experience with organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving in time-sensitive situations.
• This position must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities and possess above-average written and oral communication skills.
• The ability to work well in a team environment is also essential for this position.
• Comprehension of all units of measure, able to convert between various units of measure.
• Strong mathematical skills, grounded in algebra, geometry, and simple math.
• Computer literacy, computer estimating, complete competency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and estimating software.
