Job summary

Stellantis Financial Services is seeking a Wood Model Maker for the Prototype Wood Model Shop (Concept Tooling). The role involves building rough stock for CNC, hand assembling parts, and finishing surfaces for lamination or vacuum forming.

You should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant experience; Journeyman status is preferred. Familiarity with woodworking machines and reading 2D/3D drawings is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read 2D and 3D drawings.
• Ability to create models from 3D drawings.
• Working knowledge of fiberglass & carbon fiber lamination.
• Proficient use of sanding sealer, wood filler & spray tools.
• Ability to read gauges and calipers; select and use scribe tools.
• Drilling and countersinking holes in stock and bases.
• Familiarity with CNC milling processes.

Job description

We are looking for a Wood Model Maker in our Prototype Wood Model Shop (Concept Tooling). The candidate will build rough stock for CNC machines, hand build parts, and finish sand and coat models for lamination or Vacuum forming.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience
• Journeyman Wood Model Maker
• Working knowledge of Planners, Jointers, Band saws, Table saws, and other wood working machinery
• Able to read 2d and 3d drawings
• Able to create model from 3D drawing
• Working knowledge of Fiberglass & Carbon Fiber lamination process
• Proper use and type of sandpaper
• Proper use and type of wood filler
• Able to read height gages, calipers and use scribe tools
• Proper use of spray gun for application of sanding sealer
• Able Glue up stock in preparation for CNC machine.
• Square a base.
• Build a perfect plank base.
• Flatten stock for mounting.
• Drill holes in stock
• Drill & countersink holes in base.
• Thorough understanding of CNC milling processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of model building experience
• Able to laminate and trim fiberglass and carbon fiber parts.
• Exposed to urethane mold making.
