Job summary

stellantisexternalcx is seeking a Wood Model Maker for our Prototype Wood Model Shop (Concept Tooling). The role involves building rough stock for CNC machines, hand-assembling parts, and finishing surfaces for lamination or vacuum forming.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of relevant experience, and the ability to read 2D/3D drawings. Strong woodworking skills and familiarity with laminating processes are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Journeyman Wood Model Maker.
• Working knowledge of Planners, Jointers, Band saws, Table saws, and other wood working machinery.
• Able to read 2d and 3d drawings.
• Able to create model from 3D drawing.
• Working knowledge of Fiberglass & Carbon Fiber lamination process.
• Proper use and type of sandpaper.
• Proper use and type of wood filler.
• Able to read height gauges, calipers and use scribe tools.
• Proper use of spray gun for application of sanding sealer.
• Able Glue up stock in preparation for CNC machine.
• Square a base.
• Build a perfect plank base.
• Flatten stock for mounting.
• Drill holes in stock.
• Drill & countersink holes in base.
• Thorough understanding of CNC milling processes.

Responsibilities

• Hand build parts and finish sand and coat models for lamination or vacuum forming.
