Job summary

Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte seeks an assistant varsity coach to join the head coach in supervising and developing an intercollegiate team, with in-season and off-season programming aligned to university goals. Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate's degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the position
• Moderate amount of experience with athletic coaching, collegial playing or other related experience
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• First Aid, CPR, AED certification, or willingness to attain such certification(s) upon hire

Responsibilities

• Oversee practices and scheduled contests with the head coach to give athletes a positive, competitive experience
• Assist with developing a recruitment plan to identify and enroll student athletes
• Help establish team rules and protocols and implement them appropriately
• Support personal development and competitive spirit of student athletes while assisting their education
• Promote academic progress to support retention and graduation rates
• Attend recruitment trips as needed to recruit athletes for the program
• Supervise the team at off-campus competitions and interpret applicable rules and policies
• Provide recommendations to the head coach on lineup and game strategy
• Represent the university and team at athletic events and activities
• Assist with fundraising activities to cover travel and apparel costs
• Assist in supervising department staff and supporting department goals
