Job description

Job Description: Women's Field Hockey Coach

A cover letter is required for consideration for this position and should be attached as the first page of your resume. The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that directly relate to this role.

This position will be responsible, under the direction of the Head Women's Field Hockey Coach, for all phases of a Division I Women's Field Hockey program, within University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the head coach in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing all phases of a Division I Women's Field Hockey program, with a coaching emphasis on Goalkeepers.
  • Developing and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with student-athletes.
  • Organizing, planning, and managing practices and games.
  • Preparing scouting reports of upcoming and post-game opponents.
  • Participating in evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes, including building relationships, coordinating visits, and monitoring progress through NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • Assisting in monitoring student-athletes' academic progress.
  • Participating in public relations and fundraising efforts as requested.
  • Complying with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations.
  • Working effectively with team members and support staff within Michigan Athletics and the UM community.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the Division I level or higher.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.
  • Knowledge and experience in recruiting at the Division I level.
  • Ability to train and motivate athletes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and NCAA recruiting test.
Additional Skills:
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
