Position Title: Women’s Basketball Graduate Assistant GA-ATHL-BSKW-I

Department: Athletic Training

Division: Student Affairs and Athletics

Supervisor Title: Head Women's Basketball Coach

Description of Job Duties

To coach a particular basketball specialty on a part-time basis, develop young women in the North Central College women’s basketball philosophy, participate in the overall women’s basketball program strategy, development, and student-athlete recruitment.

  1. Assist with all aspects of team recruiting strategy as assigned by the head coach; attend high school, AAU, and junior college basketball games as assigned, visit high schools to meet with basketball recruits, call and write players, and record recruiting action.
  2. Coach a particular basketball specialty, organize standard practices (in conjunction with the coaching staff), and develop individual players in those positions.
  3. Develop game day preparations, as assigned by the head coach and in conjunction with the coaching staff, by analyzing film, designing strategies, communicating with players in the specialty area, and writing reports.
  4. Execute game day preparation in conjunction with the coaching staff; analyze game performance primarily in the specialty area with players in designated positions.
  5. Coordinate electronic film exchange by gaining an understanding of the GTX film exchange software program, managing student-based staff of video personnel for home games, and uploading game films immediately after home and away contests.
  6. Assist with monitoring the academic progress of all the players on the team, as part of the Academic Game Plan program, in connection with the coaching staff, assistant athletic director for eligibility/compliance, and athletic director.
  7. Assist with basketball organizational needs.
  8. As the certified strength and conditioning coach, develop and implement (in conjunction with the coaching staff) in-season and out-of-season, basketball-specific strength and conditioning programs.
  9. Complete other duties as assigned by the head basketball coach and athletic director.
Job Qualifications

Education/Training: A baccalaureate degree is required. Admission into a graduate degree program at North Central College is required. Graduate programs that best complement this assistantship are:

Valid driver’s license required.
