Job summary

Alkegen seeks a purchasing professional in the United States to manage quotations, supplier relationships, and inventory planning within a manufacturing setting. You will coordinate domestic and international shipping, issue POs, monitor on-time delivery, and support Operations, Accounting, Receiving, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality while upholding Lean principles and safety standards.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of purchasing, demand planning, and inventory

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• Minimum three years in Purchasing, Demand Planning, and Inventory Management in manufacturing.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Three years of MRP/ERP and MS Office experience.

Responsibilities

• Solicit quotations and negotiate with vendors.
• Issue purchase orders and monitor on-time delivery.
• Escalate and resolve supply chain issues.
• Forecast and maintain inventory levels for assigned categories.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships for quality and reliability.
• Provide purchasing support for Operations, Accounting, Receiving, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, R&D, and Quality.
• Schedule transportation to and from vendors and Alkegen sites.
• Issue Supplier Scorecards and maintain Global Risk Matrix.
• Participate in audits for TS16949 quality standards.

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for soliciting quotations, negotiating with vendors, issuing purchase orders, monitoring on‑time delivery, escalating and resolving supply chain related issues
• Forecast and maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned categories following lean manufacturing principles
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and continuously evaluate for quality and reliability
• Provide purchasing and supply chain support for various departments within Alkegen including but not limited to: Operations, Accounting, Receiving, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, R&D, and Quality
• Schedule transportation to and from vendors as well as other Alkegen worldwide sites
• Issue Supplier Scorecards and maintain the Global Risk Matrix database for assigned sites
• Participate in external and internal audit activities for TS16949 quality standards
• Lead vendor onboardings for both plant and corporate requirements
• Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to set priorities, exercise professional judgment, handle confidential material, and manage a diverse workload
• Uses adaptive coaching process for communication, goal alignment, problem solving, and career planning
• Continuous improvement of purchasing systems
• Must comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company rules and regulations on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
• Responsible for maintaining Alkegen's highest level of safety standards on site including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
• Will embody Alkegen's core safety principles including but not limited to The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.
• Will champion safety in the workplace each day.

Qualifications/Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in business or other related fields
• A minimum of 3 years of Purchasing, Demand Planning, and Inventory Management experience in a manufacturing setting
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• 3 years of MRP/ERP and Microsoft Office software experience
• Must have knowledge and experience with both domestic and international shipping, domestic receiving, and the use of 3PL’s.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Basic contract interpretation
• Purchasing experience in an automotive & industrial manufacturing setting
• Fundamental accounting and finance knowledge
• Experience with subcontractors and off-site warehousing

Compensation :

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
