WL - Sr Manufacturing Engineer (Finance)
Position Summary:
Seeking a candidate who can collaborate with our engineering and operations teams to drive efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes. This includes defining process instructions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within process departments.
Essential Functions:
- Support Manufacturing:
- Develop efficient manufacturing processes with fail-safe in-process inspection methods and document all processes with work instructions that comply with Ward Leonard standards.
- Design fixtures for new and existing parts and define the manufacturing process for fixtures.
- Participate in product development programs applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure proper execution of designs for production and build readiness.
- Maximize machine uptime, efficiency, and quality to exceed a 90% OEE goal. Collect data using machine monitoring software or develop software to gather data and create KPIs for continuous improvement.
- Use SolidWorks to create operation-level drawings.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with Quality teams on NCM disposition and resolution, which may include updating drawings and engineering masters tied to ERP systems.
- Develop and support QMS by establishing proper work instructions.
- Assist in improving costing models through time studies.
- Troubleshoot machine issues in coordination with Maintenance teams.
- Monitor process flow to implement safety procedures as needed.
- Support other operational teams to drive process improvements and overall success.
- Manage personnel as needed to support process and operation needs.
Education / Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Degree requirements may be considered based on work experience.
- Experience with inspection and metrology tools such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings according to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Understanding of CNC machining, drilling, grinding, and press equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Lean manufacturing experience.
- Project management experience to handle multiple activities.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to government contract requirements.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Job involves long periods of sitting. Overhead cranes are available in all work areas; technicians are not required to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Maintain a clean work area free of scrap materials.
- Wear and comply with all PPE applicable to the work area, including eye protection and safety shoes.
- Follow all safety rules related to machinery as posted and in company policies.
