About Wisconsin Tech Month (WTM):

Wisconsin Tech Month is a statewide celebration of innovation, equity, and tech talent. Throughout October, we spotlight diverse voices and groundbreaking ideas across business, education, community, and policy sectors. Organized by the Milky Way Tech Hub, WTM drives visibility, partnerships, and opportunity across Wisconsin's tech ecosystem.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and organized Committee Chair to lead one of the core planning committees for Wisconsin Tech Month 2025. This role is ideal for a passionate community builder or tech advocate who thrives on collaboration and wants to help shape one of the most inclusive tech celebrations in the Midwest.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Bi-Weekly Committee Meetings: Guide discussions, assign tasks, and ensure momentum across three main areas:
• ️ Event Recruitment & Curation: Help identify, recruit, and support community-led events aligned with WTM themes.
• Marketing & Outreach: Support the rollout of campaigns and help promote events via social, email, and local networks.
• Sponsorship Engagement: Work with the lead organizer to connect potential sponsors, foundations, and partners to the mission.
• Liaise Across Teams: Collaborate with the Milky Way Tech Hub team, other committee chairs, and featured week leads to ensure alignment.
• Track Progress: Maintain basic documentation of committee actions, decisions, and updates.

Ideal Candidate:

• Excellent communicator and facilitator
• Strong project management or event planning experience
• Passion for tech, equity, and community empowerment
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment

Commitment:

~3–5 hours/week (June–October), increasing slightly in September as events are finalized. Must be available for bi-weekly virtual check-ins and October activation support.
