Position Summary
The Wireline Operator at Flying A Wireline is responsible for operating wireline equipment to lower tools, instruments, or cables down a wellbore to gather data or perform well intervention services. The Wireline Operator plays a key role in the safe, efficient, and effective operation of wireline services to support well drilling, completion, or production operations.
Key Roles / Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain wireline trucks and other necessary equipment to conduct wireline operations.
- Lower tools or other devices into wells using wireline equipment, ensuring accurate placement and retrieval.
- Collect downhole data, such as well logs, using wireline tools, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the information.
- Assist with well interventions including perforating, pipe recovery, setting plugs, and other related tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of wireline units, pressure control equipment, and other tools to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Adhere to company and industry safety policies and procedures, and ensure all equipment is operated in compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of wireline operations, including logs, tool status, and service reports.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure operations meet client objectives and expectations.
- Support other team members in the field to ensure smooth and efficient operations, including providing assistance to the Lead Wireline Operator or Field Supervisor.
Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications
- Previous experience in wireline operations preferred, but on-the-job training may be provided.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of downhole tools.
- Ability to work under pressure in challenging and remote environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required.
- Well Control Certification (optional but beneficial).
Working Conditions
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, squatting, clinging, and other physical movements for long periods.
- Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying required.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
- Exposure to moderate noise, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, gases, and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Must wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
