Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Wireline Field Operator to perform at the well site and shop, including maintenance, rigging, and tool servicing, with emphasis on safety and customer relations.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, ability to travel regionally, and a CDL with Hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 6 months; ATF explosives certification is required by age 21.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Heavy mechanical aptitude with hands-on tool experience.
• Must be 21+ to obtain ATF explosives certification.
• Must hold or be able to obtain Class A/B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months or pass driving test.
• Ability to work with customers and team members.
• Willingness to be on-call 24/7 and travel, including extended stays at remote sites.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass federal background check.
• Proficient in computers for reporting and communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for jobs and perform tool maintenance, pre/post-job checks.
• Rig up/down equipment at the well site.
• Service mechanical devices and build logging cable heads.
• Operate perforating cable heads and maintain tools.
• Maintain well site/DOT records and site communications.
• Promote good customer relations and receive job instructions.
• Work at well site and shop performing basic duties.
• Drive company vehicles safely, adhering to regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement for ballistics operations.
• Supervise/train other Field Operators with safety emphasis.

As a Wireline Field Operator, you will be fully competent in all aspects of operator duties at the well site and at the shop, can maintain the unit and perform all pre-job duties, well-site operations and post-job duties, as well as training of junior operators.

As a Wireline Field Operator, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing for jobs and performing tool maintenance, pre-job and post- job tool checkout.
• Rigging-up and rigging-down equipment at the well site.
• Servicing mechanical devices and building logging cable heads
• Perforating cable heads and maintenance on the tools
• Maintaining well site/DOT records and communications as required by District Manager
• Promoting and maintaining good customer relations
• Receiving instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on well site activity
• Performing basic duties at the well site and at the shop
• Driving company vehicles in a safe manner while observing company and government regulations
• Participating in quality improvement efforts for ballistics operations
• Supervising and train other Field Operators while maintaining a high level of safety awareness at the well site
• Performing other related duties as required

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent education
• Have a heavy mechanical aptitude, including hands-on experience working with tools, equipment, engines, or other mechanical systems
• Must be 21 years of age or older to obtain ATF explosives certification
• Must be able to drive a manual (stick-shift) vehicle and have a Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement OR successfully pass the company’s driving test on a manual (stick-shift) vehicle and obtain a Class A or B CDL and/or Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of employment
• Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Be able to work on-call 24/7 and have the flexibility to remain at well sites for extended periods
• Be able to travel as required, including frequent regional travel and occasional extended stays at remote locations
• Have a clean driving record and the ability to pass a federal background check
• Be able to use computers for communication, reporting, and other work-related tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Possess a Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement at the time of hire
• Demonstrated hands-on mechanical experience such as equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair work within oil & gas industry
