WIRELESS SOFTWARE ENGINEER (STARLINK)

At SpaceX, we're leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the largest satellite constellation, providing fast, reliable internet to over 5 million users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, including thousands of satellites, consumer receivers, and the software that integrates them. We are seeking top-tier engineers to help maximize Starlink's global utility.

As a Wireless Software Engineer, you will tackle engineering challenges such as:

  • Firmware, embedded, and signal processing software on custom hardware for spacecraft.
  • Networking algorithms connecting thousands of satellites to millions of users in real-time.
  • Infrastructure and tools for a highly reliable, software-defined global network.

Our engineers oversee the entire software lifecycle, from development to support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, implement, test, and maintain physical and MAC layer software for the Starlink network.
  • Participate in designing current and next-generation hardware and signal processing algorithms.
  • Assist in hardware bring-up, debugging, verification, and launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration.
  • Develop prototypes to validate design concepts and constraints.
  • Coordinate with engineers on product development planning.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM; or 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with C/C++.
  • Experience with wireless software or network protocols.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of wireless communications, signal processing, and network protocols.
  • Understanding of RF systems and fundamentals.
  • Experience with RF/mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
  • Skills in DSP algorithms such as FFT, equalization, and Doppler compensation.
  • Experience with lab RF equipment.
  • Experience in broadband access technologies like Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, or satellite broadband.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
