Job summary

Dewey’s Bakery, Inc. in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Machine Operator for the 1st shift. This position will cross-train with the Packaging Machine Operator and operate equipment including a sheeter, wire-cut, topper, guillotine, enrober, cooling tunnel and conveyors.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred 1 year of related experience in manufacturing. The role requires reading safety rules and procedures, basic math, good communication, and the ability to stand for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred 1 year related experience as a machine operator; or equivalent education/experience.
• Preferred 1 year experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation instructions and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions written or oral.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follows GMP rules and SOPs.
• Understands operation of assigned production equipment.
• Reports safety and quality problems to authorized personnel.
• Performs set-up, start-up, and shut-down procedures.
• Completes documentation (electronic and paper).
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Hours: 5:45AM-2:15PM - Must be able to work overtime including weekends

This position will cross train with Packaging Machine Operator, which is responsible for operating equipment includes: sheeter, wire-cut, topper, guillotine, enrober, cooling tunnel and various conveyors. Responsible for the proper shut down of each piece of equipment by performing the following duties personally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows the GMP rules of facility and other policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Has the ability to understand the operation of assigned production equipment.
• Reports food safety and quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
• Has the ability to properly perform adjustments to achieve proper quality specifications.
• Has the ability to perform set-up, start up, and shut down procedures.
• Completes computerized and paper documentation.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Has the ability to communicate with co-workers and management properly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Preferred 1-year related experience and/or training as a machine operator; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 1-year experience in a manufacturing facility
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation instructions and procedures.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in oral or written form.
• Bilingual is a plus
