The ideal candidate has strong electrical, welding and general maintenance skills, 2–4+ years in manufacturing, and the ability to read safety instructions and manuals. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience in electrical, welding and general maintenance.
  • 2–4+ years in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions and manuals.
  • Able to work a third shift and overtime including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with maintenance team.
  • Remove/replace defective parts, install new parts.
  • Inspect machinery regularly for malfunctions and test performance.
  • Monitor signs of malfunction and respond promptly.
  • Install equipment, electrical components and fixtures.
  • Weld metal parts and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Maintain inspection and servicing schedules for machinery.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to the appropriate authority.
  • Follow SOPs and workplace safety guidelines; maintain a safe environment.

Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Shift: 3rd

Hours: 8pm-6am - Must be able to work overtime including weekends

Location: Winston Salem

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for providing maintenance support to two manufacturing facilities including scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, installation, and set-up task on the equipment, machinery, and buildings as required.

An employee in this class must have the flexibility to be on-call, as this position is a part of a team who helps support 2 manufacturing plants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems and works effectively with a team to proactively handle maintenance needs as they arise
  • Removes defective parts and installs new parts
  • Inspects machinery regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises, and conducting schedule testing as appropriate.
  • Monitors, identifies and responds promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in machines performance.
  • Installs equipment, electrical components and fixtures.
  • Welds metal parts, components, or structures
  • Accurately completes paperwork and maintains maintenance logs
  • Maintains a schedule for inspecting, servicing and testing machinery.
  • Reports food safety and quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
  • Follows facility and industry best practices, SOP’s, and other safety guidelines; understand how to comply with all workplace safety standards
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers and management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must possess an excellent working knowledge of electrical, welding and general maintenance and repair skills
  • 2 to 4 plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment, and/or equivalent educational experience in a maintenance capacity.
  • Working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, cranes, hoists, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
