Job summary

Astranis in San Francisco is hiring a Wire Harness Technician responsible for assembling harnesses for spacecraft, following schematics and work instructions. You will perform cutting, stripping, crimping, routing, and connectorizations, while maintaining MES documentation and contributing to quality and safety standards.

Requirements include 2+ years hands-on technician experience in aerospace or related industries, proficiency in harness assembly and rework, and the ability to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble harnesses used on spacecraft and for environmental testing.

Wire Harness Technician

The Wire Harness Technician will be primarily responsible for assembling harnesses used on the spacecraft, in environmental testing, and for hardware development activities. They will uphold quality standards congruent with space applications. They will interface directly with harness manufacturing and design engineers in design document and work instruction review. They are also responsible for area organization, 5S implementation, maintaining production equipment, and documentation diligence inside of the manufacturing execution system.

Role

• You're awesome at building harnesses
• Read and digest the schematics, follow work instructions, execute all related tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, routing
• Execute 'connectorizations'; meaning adding harnesses to existing supplier provided hardware
• Maintaining detailed documentation through our MES; specifically entering relevant data into work instruction steps, reporting non-conformances, be vocal about potential assembly improvements
• Execute testing of harnesses (Cirris, DMM, cable eye)
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to support new manufacturing equipment bring up or process improvements
• Uphold Safety and Quality standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2+ years of experience working hands-on as a technician in the aerospace, automotive, or similar industries
• Proficiency in wire crimping and harness assembly
• Familiarity with precision tools
• Excellent attention to detail
• Climbing ladders, long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements
• Must be able to lift 25lbs, unassisted
• This role requires to work onsite
• US Citizenship or Green Card

Bonus

• IPC620 working knowledge or certification
• Experience reading technical drawings / schematics
• Experience with testers (Cirris, Cable eye)

Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

Base Hourly Pay

$30 — $43 USD
