Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, gauges and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of shop safety practices and clean, organized work habits.
• Capable of setting up and operating Wire EDM machines and maintaining production standards.

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Wire EDM Operator is a full-time, on-site role located at Randolph Tool Co in Hartville, OH. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring wire EDM machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include preparing workpieces and fixtures, loading programs, adjusting machining parameters, and inspecting parts using measurement tools to confirm quality and tolerances. The Wire EDM Operator will maintain equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve production issues and optimize workflows. The role also involves following safety procedures, documenting work, and supporting continuous improvement in machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine set-up, operation, and maintenance


• Set up and operate Wire EDM to manufacture quality parts


• Perform machining operations on tool steels, aluminum, steel, and other materials


• Work with precision tools to perform machining operations


• Perform routine maintenance


• Maintain a clean work area and follow all safety guidelines


• Read and interpret blueprints and understand basic math concepts


• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, with strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.


• Understanding of precision measurement tools (such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges) and following quality control procedures.


• Understanding of manufacturing safety practices and willingness to follow all safety and housekeeping guidelines in a shop environment.


• Must be able to perform machine setup and operation as well as maintain a high level of production standards in the department.


• Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.


• Reliable attendance and ability to stand for extended periods and handle moderate physical tasks associated with shop work.
