Job summary

Hungerford is seeking a Winter Tax Intern to gain hands-on experience preparing individual income tax returns while learning how a public accounting firm operates during tax season.

You will work with our tax team, receive guidance, and access resources through Hungerford’s Buddy Program to build technical and professional skills. On-site opportunities exist across West Michigan offices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in accounting or related field.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Preparing primarily individual income tax returns (Form 1040).
• Assisting with more complex individual returns, personal property tax returns, and business or partnership returns as opportunities are available.
• Preparing trial balances, workpapers, and depreciation schedules using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Learning and following the firm’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Developing an understanding of the rules, regulations, and Code of Professional Conduct established by the AICPA.
• Communicating questions and project updates to members of the tax team.
• Participating in firm activities and building relationships with professionals across the organization.
