Job summary

Hungerford is seeking a Winter Tax Intern to gain hands-on experience preparing individual income tax returns while learning how a public accounting firm operates during tax season. You will work alongside the tax team, receive guidance, and participate in Hungerford's Buddy Program to build technical and professional skills.

This internship is on-site at our West Michigan offices in Grand Rapids, Greenville, Muskegon, Holland, and St.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate, graduate, nontraditional student, or recent graduate pursuing or recently completed a degree in accounting or a related field.
• Preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Preparing primarily individual income tax returns (Form 1040).
• Assisting with more complex individual returns, personal property tax returns, and business or partnership returns as opportunities are available.
• Preparing trial balances, workpapers, and depreciation schedules using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Learning and following the firm's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Developing an understanding of the rules, regulations, and Code of Professional Conduct established by the AICPA.
• Communicating questions and project updates to members of the tax team.
• Participating in firm activities and building relationships with professionals across the organization.
