Job summary

Courtland High School is seeking an energetic Assistant Athletic Coach to help develop a competitive cheer program in Spotsylvania, Virginia. The role emphasizes teamwork, leadership, character, and athletic skill development among student-athletes.

You will work with Head Coaches to run a balanced program, supervise teams at events, manage equipment, and help recruit support staff while ensuring medical clearances before the season begins.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age required.
• One year of coaching experience in the sport assigned.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to enroll and complete training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining academic standards for student-athletes.
• Collaborate with Head Athletic Coach to run a balanced program.
• Serve as a positive influence on staff and teams.
• Be present at varsity events and support JV and freshman contests.
• Manage sports equipment inventory and care, recommend replacements.
• Help organize systems for recruiting and assigning support staff (scorekeepers, statisticians, etc.).
• Ensure athletes have medical examinations before the season.
• Collect and maintain records, statistics, and photos for teams.
