Job summary

GovFirst is seeking a dependable Seasonal Snowplow Operator – CDL Driver (On-Call) to support winter maintenance operations in Stephens City, VA. The role requires maintaining readiness for snow events and performing safety-focused plowing and de-icing work.

The position is On-Call / Seasonal (Winter 2026–2027) with day and night shifts. Candidates must hold a valid CDL Class A or B and be able to respond on short notice in challenging winter conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL, Class A or B.
• Previous experience operating snowplow trucks or similar heavy vehicles preferred.
• Ability to respond to winter storms and operational needs on short notice.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
• Ability to work outdoors in cold, icy, and extreme weather conditions for extended periods.
• Strong commitment to safe vehicle and equipment operation.
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively with supervisors, and work as part of a winter operations team.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow trucks and assigned winter maintenance equipment to remove snow and apply de-icing materials to roadways.
• Perform safe and efficient plowing operations during winter weather events, including heavy snow, ice, and mixed precipitation.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain communication with supervisors regarding route conditions, weather conditions, and operational updates.
• Respond on an on-call basis during and after snow events, including daytime, nighttime, weekends, and holidays.
• Support roadway snow removal, de-icing, and clearing operations to maintain safe and accessible roadways.
• Follow all required safety standards, traffic control procedures, and operational requirements.
• Operate assigned vehicles and equipment safely in cold, icy, and extreme weather conditions.
• Perform other winter maintenance duties as assigned.
