Job summary

H2ajobs in Idaho is seeking a winter-range livestock herder with at least 3 months of experience and proven ability to manage 200 head on the range. This role requires 24/7 availability, staying primarily on the range, and performing duties from herd movement to assisting births, water provisioning, and basic fencing.

Housing and meals are provided; transportation to and from recruitment and worksite will be arranged by the employer.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 months experience with at least 200 head of livestock.
• Available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and on the range most workdays.
• Experience handling extreme winter conditions to protect livestock.

Responsibilities

• Attend to livestock on the range during winter and move animals as required.
• Identify approaching storms and take precautions to protect the herd from hazards.
• Monitor nutrition and provide emergency supplemental feed when needed.
• Provide fresh water and assist with births, branding, tagging and vaccination as required.
