Job description

Compensation Amount: 17.00 USD Hourly

Job Summary

Inspects, operates, and maintains terrain parks, freestyle terrain features, ski and snowboard trails, fat tire bike trails, and related winter facilities. Assists with snowmaking operations, rope tow operations, special events, and winter trail maintenance while supporting safe and enjoyable guest experiences. Provides input regarding terrain park layout, feature placement, and operational improvements. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Inspects terrain parks, freestyle features, and ski/snowboard trails to identify and address safety concerns and maintenance needs. Prepares terrain parks, features, and trails for public use prior to daily opening. Conducts daily and ongoing maintenance of terrain parks, freestyle features, and winter trail systems. Utilizes Ullr software to document inspections, maintenance activities, and operational tasks. Communicates changing trail conditions, terrain park conditions, weather impacts, closures, and safety concerns to management, coworkers, and guests. Works under the direction of the Parks & Trails Supervisor and Mountain Manager to build, maintain, and document facilities in accordance with industry best practices and company policies. Assists with the installation, repair, removal, and storage of signage, fencing, ropes, bamboo, boundary markers, and guest safety equipment. Assists in conducting investigations of terrain park and trail-related incidents. Assists in the planning, setup, operation, and teardown of special events. Removes litter and debris from trails, terrain parks, and surrounding operational areas. Performs snowmaking operations including setup, startup, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and relocation of snowmaking equipment. Assists with snowmaking hose and hydrant maintenance and trail preparation activities. Operates snowmobiles and other approved equipment in the performance of assigned duties. Assists with seasonal opening and closing procedures for terrain parks, trails, and winter facilities. Uses hand and power tools including rakes, shovels, chainsaws, hand saws, pole saws, loppers, and hammers. Performs Placid Rope Tow opening, closing, and operating tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license. Knowledge of the Freestyle Terrain Notebook or the ability to obtain such knowledge. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and winter operations equipment. Basic knowledge of terrain park operations, snowmaking systems, ski area operations, or winter recreation activities preferred. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong awareness of guest safety and risk management practices.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform a wide variety of physical activities in an alpine environment, including walking on uneven snow-covered terrain, climbing, kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to work outdoors in all winter weather conditions and temperature extremes. Ability to use hands and arms for operating tools, equipment, and snowmaking components for extended periods. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and extended hours as operational needs require. Ability to safely operate snowmobiles, ATVs/UTVs, and other equipment on various terrain. Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and more than 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to ski or snowboard at a proficient level. Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, coworkers, and supervisors, Ability to follow instructions, solve problems, and work independently with limited supervision. Regular and reliable attendance and physical presence at the worksite are essential functions of the position.
