Job summary

Giants Ridge, managed by Guest Services, is seeking enthusiastic Development Team Coaches to guide the next generation of skiers. You will help youth athletes build skills, confidence, and love for the sport in a supportive team environment.

You’ll foster strong fundamentals while encouraging sportsmanship and a lifelong passion for skiing, with opportunities to travel to NJRS races and contribute to a fun, dynamic program.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by beginning of employment.
  • Experience in alpine ski racing/training.
  • Alpine coaching experience (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to organize, direct and lead a group of young athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Ability to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Strong guest service skills.
  • Strong communications skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Compensation Amount: 16.00 USD Hourly

The Development Team Coach works with groups of young athletes to introduce them to the world of alpine skiing competition by developing a strong foundation for safety, learning, sportsmanship, and competition in a fun team environment.

Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Upholds the highest level of athlete safety on varied terrain with changing conditions.
  • Ability to work with young athletes to develop their technique, race strategy and long-term goal setting.
  • Willing and able to travel to Northland Junior Race Series (NJRS) races.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift, carry and push up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand in ski equipment for long periods of time.
  • Ability to withstand cold and wet weather for long periods of time.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including ability to understand the speech of guests and co-workers, the ability to speak clearly so that guest and co-workers can understand you.
  • Physical presence at job site is essential to perform job duties.
