The City of Steamboat Springs is hiring a Recruit - Trainee Transit Driver for the winter season. Trainees will learn to operate SST buses on fixed routes, with paid CDL Class B training.

Training lasts five weeks (200 hours). Pay starts at $24.42/hour during training, rising to $27.94/hour after obtaining CDL, with potential end-of-season bonuses. This seasonal, part-time role requires a high school diploma and the ability to work long hours in various conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or equivalent.
• Becomes knowledgeable of the bus schedule and the area to answer inquiries courteously.
• Able to work long hours and in varying weather conditions.
• Understand basic mechanical aspects of transit coaches including ADA tasks.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate SST buses on fixed routes safely and professionally.
• Provide dependable, friendly transportation for residents and guests.
• Inspect vehicles and report mechanical deficiencies.
• Fuels, services, and cleans the transit coach daily.
