Job summary

Steamboat Springs School District is seeking Substitute School Bus Drivers to join our team. The role involves safe and efficient transportation for students, including those with special needs, to and from school and on off-campus activities.

Entry pay is $29.23/hour for temp/on-call positions. Driver training can be provided. Candidates must meet all DOT regulations and have or obtain a CDL school bus license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Currently hold or able to secure a CDL school bus driver’s license.
• Able to meet all DOT regulations for drivers including ability to pass drug test and physical exam.

Responsibilities

• Obey all traffic laws.
• Practice defensive driving techniques at all times.
• Operate school buses safely in varying weather and traffic conditions.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections as required by law.
• Report vehicle defects and complete paperwork.
• Load and unload students only at authorized stops.
• Maintain discipline on the vehicle to ensure passenger safety.
• Be ready before scheduled route time and adhere to route schedules.
• Transport only authorized students and/or district employees with authorization.
• Clean bus interior and exterior regularly.
