Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks an accounting internship to gain hands-on experience supporting audit and tax engagements and to assist engagement teams with procedures. You will build an understanding of clients' businesses, collaborate with teams, and prepare workpapers and tax returns while maintaining confidentiality.

Strong foundational knowledge, coursework, and communication skills are essential; CPA eligibility planned and US work authorization required.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business discipline.
  • At least one academic term remaining after the internship.
  • On track to meet CPA exam eligibility before the full-time Associate position.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Resume and unofficial transcript(s) required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Foundational accounting knowledge developed through coursework.
  • Ability to conduct basic research, analyze information, and document findings clearly.
  • Openness to learning emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, responsibly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support audit and tax engagements with assigned procedures.
  • Assist teams with procedures, document work, and conclusions.
  • Prepare tax returns, workpapers, and supporting schedules.

  • Communicate progress, questions, and potential issues in a timely manner.
  • Apply coaching to strengthen technical knowledge and work quality.

Job description

  • Gain hands‑on experience supporting audit and other assurance engagements or tax engagements
  • Assist engagement teams with assigned audit procedures, analyzing information, documenting work and conclusions
  • Assist with tax returns, workpapers, research, analysis, calculations, supporting schedules, and related deliverables
  • Build understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, transactions, financial reporting processes, assurance needs, and tax needs
  • Collaborate with engagement team members and clients to obtain information and maintain well‑supported documentation
  • Complete assigned work accurately and on time, communicating progress, questions, and potential issues
  • Apply coaching and feedback to strengthen technical knowledge and work quality
  • Participate in training, team activities, special projects, and other assigned duties
  • For assurance: test account balances, transactions, and other financial information; prepare workpapers documenting procedures, evidence, results, and conclusions
  • For tax: prepare federal, state, and local tax returns, workpapers, calculations, and supporting schedules; conduct tax research and document findings
  • Use firm‑approved audit, tax preparation, research, workflow, document management, data analysis, and collaboration technologies
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in accordance with firm policies and professional standards
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in or pursuing a bachelor's degree program in Accounting or a related business discipline from an accredited institution
  • Must have at least one academic term remaining following completion of the internship
  • On track to meet the educational requirements for CPA exam eligibility prior to the start of a full‑time Associate position
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer‑sponsored visa sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Resume and unofficial transcript(s) required
  • At least 18 years of age
